Davmail setup1/5/2024 I am using mutt quite happily for accessing several gmail accounts, and I would like to use it to access my exchange mail as well. Set smtp_pass = 'My Password' # use the same password as for IMAPĬurrently what happen is this: it logs in and starts to download mail (and takes a v.e.r.y long time - about 15 or 20 minutes - to download 1902 headers), and then hangs on Sorting mailbox. Set certificate_file =~/.mutt/jim_bloggs/certificates Set message_cachedir =~/.mutt/jim_bloggs/cache/bodies Set header_cache =~/.mutt/jim_bloggs/cache/headers Set folder = spoolfile trash = LOCAL FOLDERS FOR CACHED HEADERS AND CERTIFICATES muttrc file is set realname = 'Jim Bloggs' These port values are set in my davmail setup, and as I say this is what I use with Thunderbird. I can access my exchange email using Thunderbird, with the imap server set to localhost at port 1143, and the smtp server again set to localhost this time with port 1025. Some of these are essentially related to network fluctuations, and the awkward deletion setup.I must have read about 65 web pages about this issue, and tried them all, but so far I can't get it to work. However, there are several pain points to be addressed, which will be covered in a future post. This is enough to get started for a while, but it isn’t yet at the stage where I can replace thunderbird unfortunately. This makes for simple integration with any popular editor.įigure 6: Composition with emacs and astroid Conclusions The ADFS instance accepts only NTLM and Negotiate (Kerberos), with O365InteractiveAuthenticator we rely on native java HttpUrlConnection implementation, this may be an issue. Thankfully, astroid supports GPG encryption as well as markdown support. At this step DavMail tries to authenticate with your client provided username/password and fails. Before we get to the poll.sh script and astroid, it is a good idea to run each of these as we set them up, especially as the first run can take quite a long time (around an hour for 9205 messages).ġ notmuch search -output =files -format =text0 tag:killed | xargs -r0 rm Exhange accounts need davmail and are described in a separate sub-section. Reclaiming Email with Astroid Having despaired of the GUI based bloat heavy approaches of most clients, I decided to go the old fashioned route and build one up in a modular manner. Thanks to the incredible ineptitude of the Thunderbird steering committee, I ended up requiring a new mail client. That quickly got out of hand, and was therefore spun out into a post of its own (TBD). Initially, I had planned this post to start with a brief history of the decline of email clients for Linux.
